This recent discovery on Craigslist has left us quite puzzled. It seems that this modified Hyundai Genesis G80 with its unique rear-end is a one-of-a-kind find. Initially a 2015 Genesis G80 powered by a 5.0-liter V8 and with only 1,365 miles on the odometer, it unfortunately met its fate in a rear-end collision, as detailed in the Craigslist listing

Instead of giving up on the vehicle, the owner opted to transform it into a truly unconventional creation. The rear-end was removed and replaced with a customized utility box design. According to the Craigslist ad, the Genesis underwent a transformation 12 inches behind the front door, introducing a 12×36 inch window on a steel plate. Despite the added metalwork, the owner insists that the vehicle is now lighter than the original G80 it once was. Furthermore, the owner boasts that the V8 engine with 450 horsepower offers performance comparable to the C7 Corvette… a claim that seems viable on paper.

However, electrically, the car appears to be in disarray. According to the Craigslist ad, issues with the electronic parking brake, speakers, and check engine light are noted, leaving one to ponder if the airbag might deploy upon activating the right turn signal. Priced at $16,500, the seller’s asking rate for this low-mileage Genesis G80 may seem exaggerated, especially considering that intact 2015 models are currently fetching around $50,000. While some may find the concept intriguing, The Drive remains hesitant to invest more than $5,000 in such an unconventional and potentially hazardous vehicle.
