In just a few weeks since McLaren introduced its latest limited-edition supercar, the track-focused Senna, the renowned Woking-based manufacturer has unveiled its newest creation. The McLaren Special Operations team has modified a limited run of 10 units of the 570S supercar, now named the MSO X. This model draws inspiration from the 570S GT4 race cars, which compete in prestigious events like the British GT Championship.

These exclusive vehicles were commissioned by a McLaren dealer situated in Newport Beach, California. Each car boasts a unique livery that pays homage to McLaren’s first road car, the F1, which achieved notable success in endurance racing, including a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. The homage to motorsport continues, as the MSO X is equipped with a functional rear wing generating nearly 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of downforce, canards, and a fully vented hood, which replaces the front trunk on a standard 570S.

The auditory experience of the MSO X is heightened by a functional snorkel inspired by the F1 GTR and a special titanium exhaust, which is routed through a redesigned rear fascia.

Inside the car, considerable weight reduction has been prioritized, resulting in a partially stripped interior that eliminates storage compartments and exposes the chassis and firewall. A harness bar is installed for six-point racing harnesses, while standard three-point seat belts remain functional. Although it leans toward a racing setup, McLaren has retained some amenities from the 570S, including parking assistance, air conditioning, and a front-raising feature to prevent damage to the car’s underside when encountering low curbs.

While the MSO X is designed to mimic the 570S GT4 and other iconic McLaren models, it is fully road-legal. Additionally, all units of the MSO X have already been sold, meaning the images you see might be the only glimpse you or others will have of this exclusive vehicle..
