Škoda is preparing to introduce the all-new Kylaq, marking a significant step in its product strategy for the Indian market, set for launch on November 6, 2024. This compact SUV will join the existing Kodiaq and Kushaq models, further enhancing Škoda’s SUV lineup in India. The Kylaq will specifically target the popular sub-4-metre segment, which comprises nearly 30% of the Indian automotive market and is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. Drawing from Škoda’s Modern Solid design philosophy, the Kylaq showcases a contemporary, bold, and sturdy appearance, complemented by Škoda’s renowned driving dynamics and exceptional safety features. After the Kushaq and Slavia, it becomes the third model to be developed and manufactured locally in India, the brand’s largest market outside Europe.
“It’s a very special moment for our team as the Kylaq nears its world premiere in India. Known for its versatility, the MQB-A0-IN platform was designed to accommodate both larger models like the Kushaq and Slavia, as well as the sub-4-metre Kylaq. We have maintained outstanding driving dynamics, top-level safety, and proven quality. Additionally, the Kylaq features hot-formed steel in the front crash module for class-leading passive safety. With a spacious, comfortable interior and first-in-class six-way adjustable, ventilated seats, the Kylaq will be at the forefront of our presence in India’s most competitive and fastest-growing segment.”

Kylaq’s striking design aims to engage a new customer base
Ahead of its upcoming debut on November 6, 2024, Škoda Auto India has provided sneak peeks of the all-new Kylaq. It incorporates aspects of the global Modern Solid design, emphasizing robustness, functionality, and authenticity, while also evoking a sense of safety and strength.
The Kylaq is designed with high ground clearance and generous wheel space, typical of SUVs, enabling it to handle rough terrains with ease. Its bold fenders contribute to an authoritative road presence, along with prominent Škoda design features such as elegant daytime running lights and a unique hexagon pattern on the sides and rear. At the recent Covered Drive event, the compact SUV was presented with a special camouflage designed in collaboration with Škoda enthusiasts, celebrating the brand’s 24 years in the Indian market. The design mirrors Indian cultural motifs and colors, while the name Kylaq takes inspiration from Mount Kailash and the Sanskrit term for crystal.
Designed for versatility and safety: A compact SUV tailored to regional needs
With a length of 3,995 mm, a wheelbase of 2,566 mm, and ground clearance of 189 mm, the Kylaq is primed for both urban navigation and off-road adventures. It is equipped with a 1.0 TSI engine generating 85 kW (115 hp) and 178 Nm of torque, and comes with the option of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The Kylaq prioritizes safety with an array of assistance systems, including a multi-collision brake and six standard airbags, ensuring both active and passive protection. It has undergone rigorous testing over 800,000 km across various Indian terrains, including urban settings, highways, and challenging off-road conditions, enduring temperature variations from -10°C to +85°C and elevations of up to 3,000 meters, proving its reliability and durability.
Locally developed and produced: The third model based on the MQB-A0-IN platform
Utilizing the robust MQB-A0-IN platform shared with the Kushaq and Slavia, the Kylaq benefits from a structure that has earned five stars in Global NCAP safety tests for both adult and child occupants. Introduced in 2021, the MQB-A0-IN platform is integral to Škoda Auto India’s strategy, developed collaboratively by teams from India and the Czech Republic, emphasizing high localization, low ownership costs, and quick production times. This platform is noteworthy as it is the first developed by the company outside of Europe, customized specifically for the Indian market.
A focus on sustainability: Solar-powered production and eco-friendly materials
The Kylaq reflects Škoda’s dedication to sustainability and innovation. It is manufactured at a 18.5 MW solar-powered facility in Pune and incorporates environmentally friendly materials, including bamboo fabric in various components and upholstery. The Czech automaker achieved its best sales performance in India during 2022, moving over 100,000 vehicles in 2022 and 2023, showcasing its success in the Indian market. The launch of the Kylaq represents another advancement for Škoda Auto in India, combining sustainability, inventive design, and a deep connection with Indian consumers.
