Mazda, known for producing robust and enjoyable mainstream vehicles, has also proven its adeptness at engineering cars with impressive safety ratings.
The company recently revealed that its stylish 2017 CX-5 has earned the prestigious “Top Safety Pick+” designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a distinction shared by the entire 2017 lineup. This achievement makes Mazda the sole automaker to receive the Top Safety Pick+ accolade across its entire range. (For transparency, it’s noted that the Mazdas assessed by the IIHS had optional headlights and front-collision avoidance technology.)
While the CX-5 should be celebrated for its perfect safety scores, it might not receive the grand welcome it deserves from the family.
Mazda attributes its vehicles’ safety to a combination of strong structural integrity and intelligent technology, as well as an engaging driving experience that encourages caution on the road. “Our Mazda Proactive Safety Philosophy drives us to create cars and crossover SUVs that are agile and responsive, helping drivers avoid accidents entirely. Our vehicles are meticulously designed and engineered to safeguard the driver and passengers in the event of a collision,” stated Masashi Otsuka, VP of Mazda North American R&D. “To us at Mazda, safety means not just protecting the occupants but also enhancing the driver’s ability to prevent accidents.”
The starting price for the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is $24,045.
