With SEMA 2019 just around the corner, automotive enthusiasts can anticipate a showcase of the most extravagantly modified vehicles. Among the highlights is an adventurous concept from Hyundai: the Veloster Grappler, an off-road variant of its popular hatchback.

As typical with SEMA modifications, the Veloster Grappler exemplifies extreme customization, utilizing a variety of high-quality aftermarket parts. Hyundai has integrated its own custom lift and brush guards, while the rest of the features come from notable third-party manufacturers. Sturdy all-terrain tires surround Method Racing alloy wheels, and a full-size spare can either be housed inside the vehicle on the roll bar that sits behind the uniquely patterned houndstooth Recaro seats or placed in the Thule roof basket.

This roof basket includes a removable Goal Zero solar panel, which charges a power station located in the cargo area. This setup allows for the charging of radios, electric tools, or other useful outdoor gear, including additional lighting from Baja Designs. The extra illumination could be beneficial to avoid unfortunate encounters with wildlife (which might damage the vented Seibon carbon fiber hood), but it’s unlikely any animals would be around, considering the Grappler’s Borla cat-back exhaust is loud enough to frighten even a bull moose away.

Hyundai will present the rugged Veloster Grappler at its booth during SEMA 2019, starting on Tuesday, November 5. It’s likely that this will not be the only vehicle Hyundai has prepared for the event, so stay tuned to The Drive for more updates on SEMA’s most impressive—and perhaps less impressive—vehicles.
