In a positive development amid the pandemic, Hyundai and its luxury division Genesis have revealed plans to cover up to half a year’s worth of car payments for new buyers who unexpectedly lose their jobs this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Additionally, buyers can opt to postpone payments by 90 days if they lease or finance a new Hyundai Santa Fe, Tucson, Elantra, Elantra GT, Kona, Venue, Accent, or Genesis G70.
This offer applies exclusively to individuals who finance a new vehicle through Hyundai Capital or Genesis Finance from March 14—the date of the initiative’s launch—until April 30 and face involuntary job loss. Note that this does not extend to those planning to retire or voluntarily leave their positions. Customers who purchased a new Hyundai before last Saturday are ineligible for this assistance, transitioning this from merely a goodwill effort for existing clients to a 45-day campaign designed to attract new customers.

Hyundai

Ultimately, Hyundai Motor America, like any business, is offering a helping hand to new customers during these uncertain times. It’s worth noting that this is not the first time Hyundai has provided financial aid to consumers affected by global crises, having permitted customers to return vehicles after the 2008 financial collapse.
Irrespective of the technicalities, it’s uplifting to share some favorable COVID-19-related news. As a bonus, here’s a sneak peek of the redesigned 2021 Elantra in case you missed it. Remember to wash your hands!
