How Expensive Will the Rivian R3 Be?

I’m jumping on the bandwagon of car enthusiasts raving about the impressive appearance of the newly unveiled Rivian R3. Despite the comparisons to the Lancia Delta you’ve seen being slightly misleading (the R3’s wheelbase will be more than a foot longer than that of the ’80s rally car), I’m still eager to acquire one. However, from a practical standpoint, what might be the price range of the Rivian R3?

We’re pondering the question of ‘should’ instead of ‘will,’ hopeful that some of the strategic planners at the American electric SUV manufacturer might stumble upon this and feel motivated to set a price for the vehicle that aligns with the optimistic expectations of our readers.

Realistically speaking, it’s unlikely to be priced at $20,000 or even $30,000, I reckon. Considering a Tesla Model Y is priced starting around $45,000, the forthcoming electric Mini Countryman also starts at around $45,000, and notably the Rivian R2 commences at approximately $45,000… it appears logical that the R3 will be below that figure. Perhaps not significantly below, though.

It would be delightful to witness the R3 being introduced at a base price of $35,000. Maybe the R3X could slightly surpass $40,000. The most probable scenario is that the R3 will be around $39,999 but will ultimately end up closer to the $45,000 mark, and getting the R2 below $50,000 will be challenging, if not impossible.

Feel free to share your thoughts on where you believe the optimal pricing for the upcoming R3, and possibly the R3X, should land when they hit the market (assuming Rivian remains operational in the coming years).
