The Honda Civic has built a reputation for reliability. It serves as a comfortable daily driver, a performance-oriented hot hatch for the track, an economical option for commuters, and is generally considered a budget-friendly choice. However, it is no longer the most affordable Honda to lease; that title now goes to the electric Prologue.

With the onset of the holiday weekend, attractive deals have emerged, and CarsDirect has identified some appealing lease offers from Honda. For instance, a 2024 Prologue EX with all-wheel drive (AWD) can be leased for $269 per month over 36 months, requiring $1,999 at signing. This results in an effective monthly cost of $325 before taxes.

The lease agreements come with an annual mileage cap of 10,000 miles, and these offers are available to residents of California and other states under the California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions regulations. For those living outside these areas, the monthly payment increases slightly to $329, or $385 when additional fees are included. However, existing Honda customers can benefit from a loyalty bonus of $1,000 for the Prologue, reducing the monthly payment by $30 or the overall cost by $85.

In comparison to a vehicle half its size and cost, the base Civic LX is priced at $239 per month after an upfront payment of $3,399, resulting in an effective cost of $333. Therefore, despite the Prologue having a higher MSRP of $48,795, it is only $8 less expensive to lease than the $24,250 Civic. While the savings may not be substantial, it could equate to enjoying a complimentary large boba drink (with extra toppings!) each month, along with avoiding fluctuations in gas prices.

How does it make sense for an electric SUV to have a lease price that competes with that of a compact gasoline vehicle? The answer lies in combining various incentives. Savings on the Prologue can total $13,500, which includes a $7,500 EV tax credit, $5,000 in Captive Lease Cash (effectively a lease rebate), and a $1,000 loyalty/conquest buyer discount. The conquest bonus is available to lessees who own a 2014 or newer vehicle from an approved list of competitors, and it is not a trade-in offer; instead, it’s an incentive for choosing to purchase from Honda over competitors.

Moreover, additional savings for leasing may come from a Labor Day Dealer Cash bonus of $750 on 2024 Prologue models. It’s important to note that this is an undisclosed manufacturer-to-dealer incentive, meaning dealerships are not obligated to acknowledge or honor it. However, it’s worth inquiring about; after all, the answer is always no to questions that aren’t asked, so it never hurts to ask.
