Easter eggs in vehicle design have gained popularity recently, with Tesla often leading the way. However, GMC is joining in on the trend with a playful reference to Tesla in its new Hummer EV. This cheeky detail can be spotted in Doug Demuro’s Hummer EV review on YouTube, specifically at around 8:35 in the video.

In his review, Doug showcases various features of the Hummer’s infotainment screen, particularly the auxiliary switches. These switches are commonplace in modern off-road vehicles, enabling drivers to control accessories like winches and lights from dashboard controls. Unlike traditional models, the Hummer EV replaces physical switches, integrating this functionality directly into the infotainment system. Users can name their switches and select icons as well.

Within the icons for common accessories such as horns, lights, and refrigerators, there are also humorous designs. As users on the Cybertruck Owners Club have pointed out, one of the icons resembles a Hummer EV scaling the top of a Cybertruck. Doug opted to assign this icon to Auxiliary Switch 1, labeling it “lights,” but it can control any connected equipment.

Other amusing icon options include images resembling the Apollo Command Module, a beach-ready wheelchair, and even a TNT detonator. However, the standout choice might be the illustration depicting a Hummer EV re-entering the atmosphere, with T-Rexes in the foreground. This drawing humorously implies that GMC’s electric vehicle was the asteroid responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs.

That said, actually maneuvering a Hummer over a Cybertruck might pose some challenges. The Cybertruck’s rear slope, which sits at an 8-degree angle, is relatively gentle, suggesting that a ramp may be necessary for the Hummer to physically climb onto the truck’s roof as illustrated.

Regardless, the Cybertruck icon featured in the Hummer EV is somewhat ambiguous, allowing GMC to sidestep any direct associations if questioned. While many Easter eggs are more explicit, one might suspect that the first Hummer owner to successfully drive over a Cybertruck will likely attract widespread attention online. However, this event might take a while to happen, as deliveries of Tesla’s pickup are still pending.
