Are you frustrated with only racing in video games, or do you believe you have the skills to compete on a real track? In that case, a raffle organized by Lemons of Love, a non-profit organization founded by racers to assist chemotherapy patients, might provide you with that opportunity. The winner of a brand new 2019 Mazda MX-5 Cup race car will be revealed on March 16.
This impressive vehicle is based on the latest Mazda MX-5 model, the ND2, featuring an upgraded 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G engine that delivers 181 horsepower. With substantial weight reductions, the elimination of electronic aids, the addition of a roll cage, and overall enhancements to its durability, this car is designed to handle some of the country’s premier racing circuits in the Global MX-5 Cup. Plus, there’s no need to worry about race entry fees; they are fully covered for the entire season.
To enter for your chance to win, simply head to Lemons of Love and purchase a $100 raffle ticket. While $100 may not be a trivial amount, it’s important to remember that a new MX-5 Cup race car costs $68,000, not counting the additional prizes that Lemons of Love and its sponsors are including for the winner. The exciting part? The more tickets you buy, the better your chances are of having your name drawn by Mazda Motorsports president John Doonan on the morning of the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 16.
The lucky winner will receive the MX-5 Cup race car and a range of additional prizes, including:
- FAST Cooling system
- One season of race entry fees for the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich
- Battery Tender battery charger
- One set of BFGoodrich tires
- Sparco Circuit 2 Halo racing seat
- Simpson racing belts
- Safecraft racing belts
- Bell Racing Pro Series helmet
- PAGID brake pads
- ROUX helmet bag and backpack
- CarbonX Fire Rated underwear
- One entry to a 24 Hours of Lemons race
- One-year subscription to Autoweek
- One-year subscription to Grassroots Motorsports Magazine
Lemons of Love is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating, assembling, and distributing care packages for chemotherapy patients. The organization understands the everyday difficulties faced by individuals undergoing chemotherapy and aims to bring awareness to these challenges while making the temporary side effects, like dry skin and cold feet, a bit more manageable through thoughtful care packages.
The previous raffle in 2018 was won by Daniel Miller, a U.S. Air Force member who was stationed in the Middle East when his winning ticket was drawn by Doonan during the 2018 12 Hours of Sebring. Upon learning of his win, Miller shared with Jill Swanson Peltier, the founder of Lemons of Love, that he decided to contribute to the charity as his mother is also a cancer survivor.
Happy giving.
