Opting for an earlier release date for the Cadillac Lyriq, General Motors witnessed a sluggish pace of deliveries initially. However, the situation is rapidly evolving. The Vice President of Global Cadillac, Rory Harvey, confirmed during the Rolex 24 event that substantial numbers of Lyriq units are now making their way to dealer lots.

“The surge in production this month is significant. Our shipments to dealers are surpassing the total number of cars sent out last year,” stated Harvey. “We’re really picking up speed now.” Despite only 122 Lyriqs being sold in 2022, delivering more cars in January 2023 compared to the entire previous year may not seem like a monumental achievement, but it’s a positive development. Harvey also hinted at the imminent arrival of Super Cruise in the Lyriq through an upcoming over-the-air update.

This gradual distribution pace doesn’t stem from production limitations. As highlighted by GM Authority earlier, General Motors actually manufactured 8,195 Lyriqs in 2022. The delayed delivery rate is a precautionary measure by GM to ensure that these vehicles, developed expeditiously, meet high standards without widespread issues. This cautious approach led to the “Cadillac Lyriq Ambassador Program,” monitoring the experience of early buyers with new variants in exchange for discounts.

Harvey expressed that production will only escalate from this point onward. Consequently, an increased presence of Lyriqs on the streets in 2023 is anticipated. With positive reviews, a 300-mile range, and an upcoming all-wheel-drive model, the focus now shifts to getting these vehicles into the hands of eager customers.
