Crashes involving sports cars and semi-trucks can be brutal, but thankfully, they don’t always end in tragedy. The driver of a Lotus must be feeling incredibly grateful after a nerve-wracking incident with an 18-wheeler recently.

As per a report by the Washington State Patrol shared on Komo News, the driver of a second-generation Lotus Elise found themselves in a precarious situation while traveling northbound on Interstate 5 near Arlington late on Friday, Jan. 3, around 11:00 p.m. Heavy rain caused the Lotus to skid under a fish-laden semi-trailer, prompting the truck driver to quickly bring their vehicle to a halt, minimizing the damage to both automobiles. Despite being stuck inside the Lotus, the driver emerged without any injuries.

The Lotus itself wasn’t as lucky, sustaining visible harm to the front bumper and driver-side lights. While the structural integrity of the Lotus might remain intact, the significant damage to the doors and fenders indicates a high probability of the car being declared a total loss by the insurance company. Repairing a Lotus Elise is notoriously expensive, with the front and rear body parts costing thousands of dollars each to replace with genuine components.

An advisable course of action could involve letting the insurance provider declare the Lotus as a write-off before possibly repurchasing it for transformation into a formidable track car… Provided it doesn’t end up being converted into one of those questionable exocars.

Remember to prioritize safety first.
