Drama Unfolds at Ferrari of Palm Beach Dealership

A significant controversy has emerged at the Ferrari of Palm Beach dealership. Reports from the Daily Mail reveal that Robert "Bud" Root, a former salesman at the dealership, is taking legal action against it for allegedly using a device to manipulate odometer readings. Root contends that the device, known as The Deis Tester, which he claims is regulated by Ferrari’s headquarters, electronically lowers the mileage on used Ferrari vehicles to boost their resale value.

Root discovered the device and promptly expressed his concerns. He alleges in his lawsuit that he informed his client, retired Stephen McMillan, former CEO of Sara Lee, about the device, but McMillan allegedly went ahead and paid a mechanic to perform the illegal alteration. In Florida, as in many other states, odometer tampering is classified as a felony. The lawsuit claims that such practices are intended to inflate the resale prices of used Ferraris.

Furthermore, Root states that he was terminated for exposing these odometer rollbacks, even though he was the one blowing the whistle on the practice. The situation appears to be fraught with conflicting accounts, and there is considerable interest in how this case will develop, particularly since Ferrari is also implicated in the lawsuit.
