Maserati has unveiled two new Special Series automobiles inspired by the MC20, namely the Icona and Leggenda. Both draw inspiration from one of Maserati’s most iconic models and mark the automaker’s 20th anniversary since its return to motorsports with the MC12.
Both the Icona and Leggenda models are restricted to a production of only 20 units each. The Icona variant takes cues from the MC12 Stradale street car, whereas the Leggenda draws inspiration from the MC12 GT1 Vitaphone racer. The Icona boasts the iconic Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale livery, along with exclusive touches from the Fuoriserie Personalization Program. The Bianco Audace-accented Fuoriserie logo, situated near the rear tires, is complemented by the Italian flag positioned below the MC20 badging on the door.

Taking Inspiration from the Unrivaled MC12
The MC20 is manufactured in Italy, unlike some Italian Stellantis vehicles, allowing it to legally sport the Italian Tricolore. Originating from the 2004 MC12 Stradale, the two-tone paint job honors the Maserati Birdcage Type 61, a prominent presence on racing tracks in the ’60s. The refined wheel design showcases Trident logos in contrasting blue. Positioned behind them are elegant blue brake calipers. Lastly, the engine cover is crafted from carbon fiber.

For a more athletic appearance, the Leggenda model boasts a striking Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte finish reminiscent of the MC12 GT1 entry by the Vitaphone Racing team in 2004, securing the runner-up position in the 24 Hours of Spa. Fuoriserie elements include unique Trident wheels in a glossy Nero Lucido wrap with matte finish hubcaps and Trident Digital Mint accents. The brake calipers sport a black hue, while the Trident logos on the doors, C-pillar, and grille are painted in vibrant yellow.
Unique Enhancements For The Cabin
Both exclusive series models are furnished with high-performance interiors crafted in collaboration with the manufacturer’s internal specialized division, showcasing lightweight, versatile, four-way monocoque racing seats. The central portion of the Icona model is adorned in Nero/Blu, whereas the Leggenda variant features Nero against a silver backdrop. Depending on the specific model, the headrests boast ‘Icona’ or ‘Leggenda’ stitching along with the esteemed Maserati trident emblem. Moreover, the special edition titles are prominently displayed on the carbon fiber hood covers, featuring ‘Icona. Una Di 20’ and ‘Leggenda. Una Di 20’ badging.

The Icona and Leggenda variants of the MC20 also benefit from various additional exclusive features that elevate the opulent aura. These figures are admirable, especially when considering that the V12-powered MC12 required 3.6 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint and marginally surpassed with a top speed of 205 mph. Despite this, the MC12 remains unmatched on the Nürburgring, where the classic model outpaces its contemporary counterpart.
