Recently, Donut Media has been releasing weekly episodes for their series Everything You Need to Know | Up to Speed, which explores the backgrounds of popular cars and brands among enthusiasts. However, prior to this series, they produced the Evolution video series. In the Evolution series, a specific enthusiast’s car is selected, and the video traces its history from the initial variant up to the current model, highlighting year-over-year changes along the way. Recently, Donut Media debuted a new installment from the Evolution series focused on the Honda Civic.

The video kicks off with the 1973 Honda Civic SB and progresses through various generations, spotlighting significant milestones. These include the 1985 Honda Civic 1500 Si AT, the first Civic equipped with Sports Injection (Si), the 1997 Honda Civic Type-R, the inaugural Type-R variant, and the 2016 Honda Civic Type-R that reignited the Type-R excitement in the U.S. market.

The new Honda Civic Type-R has garnered considerable attention. This high-performance front-wheel-drive vehicle boasts 306 horsepower, can reach speeds of 144 mph, and accelerates to 60 mph in just five seconds. Due to the car’s appeal and its limited availability within the Civic lineup, many dealerships have increased its price. However, there are rumors of a more affordable entry-level Honda Civic Type-R model expected to be released next year.

In the meantime, take a look at how the Honda Civic has evolved over the past 40 years. Check out Donut Media‘s video below.
