Certain luxurious car showrooms feature an upper level. It’s ostentatious, it’s exciting, and it’s a complete disaster when a brand-new Ferrari Roma finds itself in the elevator shaft. How do I have this knowledge? Well…
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to such a mishap a few days back. A new Roma seems to have descended into the elevator shaft while the elevator itself was positioned on a different floor at Ferrari of Palm Beach. No individuals were injured, but the Ferrari suffered extensive damage.
The Roma is now irreparable. It sustained major damage to the rear, with additional impacts on the hood and roof during the fall. According to PCBFR, an “elevator malfunction” was the root cause of the mishap, resulting in a fuel leak from the Ferrari. Power supply to the dealership was cut off during the vehicle’s retrieval to avert a fire incident. The images from the recovery process are quite grim.
“Special Operations collaborated with Kauff’s Towing and their latest rotator wrecker to extract the vehicle from the elevator,” PCBFR declared in a statement. “Kauff’s 45-foot boom and multiple 50,000-pound winches proved to be the perfect equipment for the task.” Given that the Ferrari was already heavily damaged, preserving the car from more harm was likely not the primary concern. PCBFR noted that the entire retrieval process lasted about four hours.
We reached out to Ferrari of Palm Beach seeking additional details regarding the incident. Unfortunately, we have not received a response as of the time of this publication.
