Empowered EVs | European Union seals vital EV raw materials alliance with Serbia

An accord has been struck between the EU and the Republic of Serbia to inaugurate a strategic alliance concerning sustainable raw resources, battery worth chains, and electric vehicles.

This coalition is designed to bolster the emergence of fresh indigenous industries and employment opportunities throughout the electric car worth chain. It extends from a Stabilization and Association Agreement enacted in September 2013 and aligns with the EU’s New Growth strategy for the Western Balkans, propelling Serbia’s merging into the EU’s sole market.

The pact seeks to ease tight collaboration between Serbia and the EU to work together on exploration and innovation and craft a series of plans with a focus on the EV commercial ecosystem. They will exchange expertise and technologies connected to sustainable prospecting, extraction, treatment, and reuse of subsequent raw substances, encompassing the practice of elevated vigilance and trackability for the battery worth chain.

Facilitate EU, the Western Balkans Investment Framework, and a Unified Project Pipeline in Serbia, together with the European Raw Resources Coalition and European Battery Coalition, will be harnessed to support financial projects. Serbian establishments will engage in European Battery and upcoming Raw Resources Academies, potentially supplying specified schemes and apprenticeships.

“Subsequent to ratifying the MoU, the EU and the Republic of Serbia will collectively outline, within half a year, a detailed scheme with tangible measures to actualize the strategic partnership,” declared the European Commission.
