Elon Musk’s Tesla Commercial Idea Was Inspired by a 10-Year-Old Child

Even someone as innovative as Elon Musk occasionally seeks input from others. On Wednesday, Musk shared on Twitter that Tesla would launch a competition for fans to create homemade advertisements for the automaker’s first significant commercial, a concept inspired by a letter from a 10-year-old girl.

This initiative began when Bria Loveday, a fifth-grade student from Michigan, penned a letter to Musk for a school assignment, as her father, Steven Loveday, a writer for Inside EVs, revealed on Twitter. In her letter, Bria suggested, “I think that you should run a competition on who can make the best homemade Tesla commercial and the winners will get their commercial aired.”

Steven told CNN Money that Bria intended to send her letter to Tesla headquarters through traditional mail, but he encouraged her to email it instead. He said he forwarded it to the public relations team at Tesla, and within half an hour, he received a response from an employee who was hand-delivering it to Musk.

Musk later took to Twitter to announce that he would embrace Bria’s suggestion.

A representative from Tesla confirmed to CNN Money that the competition will take place but noted that details have yet to be disclosed.

While Tesla hasn’t produced any traditional car commercials thus far, many creative filmmakers have taken it upon themselves to create their own Tesla ads for fun since Musk launched the electric vehicle company. (We’ve included a couple of these below for you to see.)
