On Tuesday, Elon Musk, the CEO and founder of Tesla, took to Twitter to announce that the highly anticipated Model 3 will include a singular center display to manage all its data. This means there will be no heads-up display or traditional instrument layout. This central display, akin to a large iPad, will replace the typical buttons, knobs, and switches found in most vehicles and will serve as the car’s main control system, providing crucial information like road speed, energy consumption, and climate settings.

In response to several inquiries about the internal display design of the entry-level Tesla, Musk confirmed that the Model 3 will not have a centralized gauge cluster or heads-up display. He assured a user longing for a central speedometer, stating, “You won’t care.”

Images of the Model 3 interior have surfaced recently, showcasing the dominance of the center display within the cabin. This design choice may raise questions among traditional automotive enthusiasts. However, given Musk’s track record of accurately predicting consumer preferences, it’s possible that conventional gauge placements will soon become outdated.
