Cadillac plans to introduce the Escalade IQ, an electric vehicle, in 2023 by expanding its existing lineup rather than creating a completely new model. Joining the ranks of the Lyriq and Celestiq, the Escalade IQ will be the third and largest electric car offered by Cadillac.

So far, only a single image of the Escalade IQ’s badge has been shared by Cadillac. Interestingly, this marks the first time an electric Cadillac model will not incorporate “IQ” into its name. Coming up with an alternative name was likely challenging, as options like Escaliq or IQuescalade do not have a smooth ring to them.

Cadillac states that the Escalade IQ is designed to seamlessly integrate with people’s everyday lives and surroundings, particularly catering to the preferences of American consumers. In the United States, there is a strong affinity for large, spacious, and powerful SUVs, making this electric option in a familiar shape and with a beloved nameplate a logical choice.

Details regarding specifications, design, styling, and pricing have not been disclosed yet for the Escalade IQ. The electric Escalade is set to be unveiled later this year. Predictably, it is speculated that the Escalade IQ could feature the same battery and power system as the top-tier Chevy Silverado EV. This setup may consist of a 200 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors, delivering a maximum output of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque (in the “Wide Open Watts” mode). While the Silverado EV is expected to achieve a maximum range of approximately 400 miles (450 miles for the work version), the Escalade IQ may have a slightly lower range of around 350 miles due to its heavier luxury build.

Once available in the market, the Escalade IQ will face competition from other large electric SUVs like the Rivian R1S, Mercedes EQS SUV, Tesla Model X, and eventually the Hyundai Ioniq 7 and KIA EV9. However, the significance of the “Escalade” brand name in the U.S. market could make it a noteworthy contender.
