It has been made known by Puspakom that starting from July 25, 2024, all clients desiring to conduct any car inspection or checks at its outlets or carry out payment transactions online using MyPuspakom will be mandated to provide their tax identification number (TIN) as part of the process.
The vehicle inspection authority mentioned that this action aligns with the implementation of the digital invoicing (e-Invoice) platform by the revenue service agency (LHDN), which is directed at fostering openness in financial and tax affairs and enhancing the nation’s tax structure. The initial phase of introduction of the system is scheduled to commence on August 1.
The TIN serves as a unique identifier issued by LHDN to individuals and enterprises in Malaysia, and essentially represents the number allocated to your tax dossier for identification. In the case of individuals, this corresponds to your IG number, previously linked with an SG or OG identifier prefix.
According to Puspakom, the essential data for personal customers are their MyKad (IC) number and TIN, while corporate customers will need to furnish their company registration number, SST number, and TIN.
The authority stipulates that customers must confirm possession of a TIN before securing an appointment on its website. It emphasized the necessity of this step to ensure accurate and efficient handling of every payment transaction by both Puspakom and LHDN. The e-billing system will also be applicable to fresh vehicle acquisitions.
