As March continues with persistent snowfall, many look forward to that initial spring day when they can finally take their summer vehicles out of winter storage. However, one driver of a McLaren 650S took things too far by leaving his $265,000 supercar abandoned in the middle of a Pennsylvania intersection during a snowstorm, insisting that he wouldn’t move it until the roads were cleared.
Hazleton, the highest city in Pennsylvania at nearly 1,900 feet, often faces harsher winter conditions than its nearby areas. While a cold rain fell in surrounding regions last Friday, Hazleton experienced significant snowfall, which may have contributed to the surprise of the McLaren’s owner as he navigated into town.
As reported by Hazleton News 1, the driver cautiously moved his luxury vehicle to the intersection of Broad and Church Streets. Upon parking, he exited the car and declared that he would not relocate the vehicle until the road conditions improved.
While a McLaren can be a thrilling ride in snowy conditions with the right tires, it seems the owner was unwilling to take risks with its powerful 641 horsepower directed to the rear wheels. Details about the driver remain scarce, but comments on the local news Facebook page suggest he is an "older" gentleman who has drawn mixed reactions from the public.
From the photos, it appears that, despite his initial stance, the driver eventually decided to move the 650S out of the intersection, parking it on the side of the road while awaiting a flatbed tow truck. Although they say adventures are the best way to bond with a car, it’s debatable whether this experience qualifies as one. It might be wise to wait a few more weeks to enjoy the ride—or not, if one has the right equipment for winter driving.
