Markus Zahn has been awarded just over $7,000 in damages after a donkey feasted on his Tarocco Orange McLaren 650S Spider, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Last year, the 49-year-old German businessman parked his $280,000 supercar adjacent to a paddock in Vogelsberg where a donkey named Vitus resides. Upon returning to his vehicle, Zahn discovered that Vitus had been gnawing on the back of the McLaren. This incident resulted in over $40,000 in damage, primarily affecting the car’s paint and carbon fiber elements. However, only $33,000 of the costs were covered by Zahn’s insurance, which concluded that he was partially at fault for parking so near to an active paddock.

In an effort to reclaim the remaining expenses, Zahn took the donkey’s owner to court. The German judiciary ruled in favor of Zahn, obliging Vitus’s owner to pay the outstanding amount of $7,000.

Zahn remarked, “The donkey obviously thought he had stumbled upon a giant carrot.” He noted that the McLaren’s distinctive shade of orange does indeed resemble that of a carrot.
