The crowdfunded initiative aimed at reclaiming the Dodge Viper ACR’s title for the fastest lap at the Nordschleife has reported an impressive time of 7:03.45 earlier this week. In line with the saying, “video or it didn’t happen,” the team has now shared the recorded proof of this outstanding achievement.
This record-setting lap was driven by SRT factory driver Dominik Farnbacher, who utilized stock, street-legal Kumho Ecsta V720 tires on the 2017 Viper ACR. As a result, this vehicle is now recognized as not only the fastest production car with a manual transmission to complete a lap at the Nürburgring but also the fastest production car built in America. The challenge is now directed at Chevy.
We’ve seen many exhilarating point-of-view videos showcasing rapid vehicles navigating the challenging German track known as the Green Hell, but witnessing the fastest American-made car achieve this feat is particularly thrilling.
As of the latest updates, Farnbacher and his team plan to return to Germany in about three weeks to attempt another timed lap. Could we be on the verge of witnessing the first American lap under 7 minutes at the Nürburgring? That would certainly serve as a remarkable farewell to the iconic Dodge sports car. We’re eagerly hoping for the best..
