The
Ford Maverick enjoys strong sales, with
demand surpassing supply.
Stellantis and
General Motors have small pickup models that could rival it, and now
Ram has given a sneak peek of the latest Rampage pickup in South America. Despite its origins, it exudes a familiar North American vibe.
While Ram hasn’t confirmed plans to launch the Rampage in the US, the presence of stars and stripes on the taillights and sightings of a heavily camouflaged prototype in Detroit hint at positive developments.
Details about the
truck are scarce, with only images and the name revealed. However, the name “Rampage” holds historical significance as it harks back to Dodge’s earlier
light utility vehicle sold in the 1980s. Despite minimal similarities between the old and new models,
Dodge seems to be banking on nostalgic recognition.
Chevrolet also has a small pickup, the Montana, in South America. Although resembling its larger counterpart, Chevy has not indicated any intentions of introducing it to the US market.
Until Ram provides official confirmation, the arrival of the Rampage in the US remains uncertain. Automakers frequently test foreign models around Detroit, so increased sightings may not immediately indicate a forthcoming US launch. Nevertheless, with limited competition for the Maverick, save for the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ram could potentially give Ford a run for its money if priced competitively.
