When discussing air travel, all aspects come at a high price. I don’t mean only having your personal jet. Occasionally, though, with frequent flying, you’re rewarded for investing your earnings to pay for a flight.
If access to lounges or priority boarding doesn’t persuade you for another flight this month, I might have an offer that will catch your interest. Until the month-end, travelers on Delta through Atlanta have the opportunity to be chauffeured in Porsche’s highly sought-after 918 Spyder hypercar.
There are specific criteria to meet. Primarily, the 918 is stationed solely at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). To even have a chance at riding in the hybrid hypercar, you must at minimum, connect at this airport.
ATL, one of the world’s busiest airports with nearly 725,000 takeoffs and landings in 2022, has a strong bond with Porsche. Delta, headquartered in Atlanta, collaborates with Porsche and has various vehicles at multiple U.S. airports. Furthermore, the airport is approximately five miles from Porsche’s Experience Center, where a dark blue 918 has been exhibited previously.
While flying first class isn’t mandatory, you need to be a Delta Medallion member to be eligible for a Porsche ride. The selection process is a lottery. If chosen, Delta’s Elite Services team will await beside the Porsche 918 with a sign displaying your name. You’ll then have the chance for a one-of-a-kind ride.
Act quickly to catch your flight. Allison Ausband, Delta Air Lines’ chief customer experience officer, notifies that the 918 will only be at the airport until July 31, leaving you less than a week to gamble on this opportunity.
The Porsche 918, a costly car selling for over a million dollars, remains a dream for most. Nevertheless, for travelers investing substantially in airfare yearly to keep their Delta Medallion status, a ride in a 918 might be enough incentive to consider purchasing a new Porsche on the ground. It’s a clever marketing strategy for both companies and a remarkable opportunity for fortunate individuals to relish a ride not many have experienced in a 918.
Despite the runway being an ideal place for the 918 to showcase its power, it’s unlikely to unleash its full 887 horsepower and 944 lb-ft of torque while ferrying you around. Nonetheless, one can still dream, right?
