Ram is gearing up to unveil a range of advanced trucks, including its highly anticipated electric pickup truck. The Ram 1500 REV and a midsize electric pickup truck concept were showcased at a dealer meeting in Las Vegas attended by 5,000 individuals, with the midsize truck described as “remarkable.” However, quietly placed in the background was a concept of the next-generation Dodge Durango that gives a glimpse into the future of this aging SUV.

The present Durango has been in existence since 2011, a time ago that it still employs the final collaborative engineering efforts by Daimler-Chrysler and loosely shares a platform with the 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML. It has also withstood the transition of the former Chrysler corporation to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and has persisted through to the present-day Stellantis. It’s safe to say that the Durango has endured and witnessed it all. Despite its longevity, it continues to thrive with a wide range of models suitable for everything from a basic family transport to a 710 horsepower Hellcat variation, which is currently embroiled in a legal dispute after being reintroduced for the 2023 model year following a one-year production in 2021.

Regrettably, similar to the other vehicles unveiled at the Las Vegas dealer event, there are no images of the fresh SUV concept. According to Automotive News, details regarding powertrain, features, and general specifications of the new SUV are also notably absent, with the sole information shared from the dealer gathering being the confirmation of an upcoming Durango concept. The presence of the Durango concept at a dealer event focused on revealing Ram trucks may offer insights into the SUV’s future, however, there’s no hint yet of Ram taking over the SUV brand from Dodge.

It remains unclear if an electric version will be part of the lineup. It was showcased alongside two significant electric vehicle launches for the automaker. All that is known is based on dealer Randy Dye’s statement to AN that it meets consumer demand.
