At the recent 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, Lexus proudly showcased the daring and dynamic RZ Sport Concept, a magnificent evolution of the RZ 450e. What was once a standard electric vehicle has been transformed into a masterpiece of angles, vents, and spoilers, tailored for those with visionary aspirations.
The Lexus RZ Sport Concept defies convention as it isn’t your typical sleek, autopilot-oriented electric car design. Just take a moment to behold its magnificence. Its purpose is to exhilarate your senses, to elevate your pulse. Featuring an extended wheelbase, flared arches, front airflow grilles, sizable air intakes, and twin rear spoilers, this model embraces a philosophy of more is more.
In true Lexus style, the RZ Sport Concept sports a refined ‘Hakugin’ hue, a brilliant white shade that shimmers elegantly under specific lighting conditions. This pristine color is complemented by vivid blue and black accents, along with carbon fiber aerodynamic components. It strikes a harmonious balance between sophistication and exuberance.
Beneath its striking exterior, the RZ Sport Concept shares its roots with the RZ 450e production model but boasts dual 150 kilowatt (201 horsepower) electric motors. With modifications overseen by professional racer Masahiro Sasaki, this vehicle features a 35 mm lowered suspension, enhanced chassis, and revamped interior. The additions include larger wheels and tires, aggressive aerodynamics (as expected), and racing-style bucket seats for both front and rear passengers.
Lexus envisions the RZ Concept as an exploration of the “thrill of performance and customization” unique to electric automobiles. While the possibility of this concept becoming a production model (maybe a Lexus RZ F?) remains uncertain, it indicates Lexus’s interest in offering enhanced performance customization for electric cars. Regardless, Lexus’s innovative take on the RZ, transforming a typically mundane electric crossover into a vibrant, motorsport-inspired concept, is truly commendable.
