Bidding farewell to the Toyota Land Cruiser in the USA, an opulent alternative emerges in the form of the brand new Lexus LX600. With the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon approaching, an enhanced rugged variant of the LX has been unveiled.

As per Toyota’s announcement, a “tailored LX OFFROAD model” is set to debut in person on Jan. 14. Preceding the event, the automaker has shared images of the modification along with additional specifics.

Presenting the “LX 600 OFFROAD JAOS”—presumably its formal moniker—featuring high-end off-road add-ons to evoke a spirit of expedition for both driver and passengers. The components roster is as follows:

  • Front Skid Protector
  • Rear Skid Protector
  • Over Fender type-R (CFRP)
  • Wheels (JAOS TRIBE CROSS 20×9.0J Titanium Gold)
  • Tires (TOYO TIRES OPEN COUNTRY A/TIII 285/55R20 Not for sale in Japan)
  • Mud Guard III
  • Door Handle Protector
  • Tail-Cutter

All these aftermarket components are crafted by Japan Offroad Service, known as JAOS, famed for collaborating with Toyota on previous projects. Established in Tokyo in 1985, JAOS has established itself as a premier manufacturer of off-road gear for trucks and SUVs in Japan.

Considering the aforementioned components breakdown, it is evident that the enhancements primarily focus on protection and aesthetics. Shields for the front and rear, as well as other enhancements, prove invaluable during off-road excursions, particularly in a vehicle with intricate mechanics under its chassis.

It’s not just the impressive wheel and tire combination that shines, but also facilitates the substantial LX in conquering challenging terrains more effortlessly than with its standard rubber. Toyota has clarified that the JAOS mud flaps and tail-cutter are not mass-produced units.

The official statement did not specify if this specific model—or its accompanying features—will be accessible internationally. I have reached out to Toyota via email and will provide an update upon receiving a response.

Potentially, further details regarding the customization and its perks may surface during its unveiling on Friday.
