A closer inspection reveals that the vehicle encountered two accidents over the years, in 2017 and 2018. The passenger-side fender displays a slight bend from a motorcycle-related incident at the front. Additionally, the vehicle was struck by a semi-trailer at the rear. The impact affected the bumper, lights, and caused a kink in the rear quarter, but repair work is anticipated to be relatively simple.
The car has undergone routine maintenance throughout its existence, alongside a series of service receipts documenting its history. Various repair and upkeep procedures encompassed the replacement of head gaskets, shock absorbers, water pumps, valve jobs, installation of a new clutch, as well as changing a multitude of filters and hoses over the years. Despite its 28-year tenure, the engine bay is exceptionally clean, surpassing the expected condition for a vehicle of its age.
However, the V6 engine faced challenges during its extensive mileage. Records from 2016 reported cylinder wall scoring caused by overheating. Subsequently, the engine underwent removal for head gasket and seal replacements, alongside changing various components. A later invoice from 2021 detailed the outcomes of a leakdown assessment. At 393,449 miles, the evaluation indicated the necessity for an engine rebuild. It remains uncertain whether a complete engine overhaul occurred following the 2021 leakdown examination.
Nevertheless, in a conversation with The Drive, Santos mentioned that the vehicle as a whole is performing well. Santos stated, “The engine is in good condition, [with] no warning lights,” and also mentioned, “The stability, steering, and suspension are also in excellent shape, without any problems.”
Regarding the interior, the leather is in decent shape, with the seats refurbished with red center inserts. The steering wheel, dashboard, and interior plastics are all well-maintained, with the center console changed to accommodate a newer double-DIN stereo system. The driver-oriented layout serves as a splendid example of interior design, and it’s even more appealing due to the absence of large screens.
Even with the considerable mileage, wear and tear, and collision damage, $29,000 represents a great deal for an Acura NSX. The least expensive listing currently on Cars.com is priced at $60,900 and has substantial modifications with a turbo setup. Additionally, the vast majority of other available NSXs on the second-hand market start at $90,000 and above.
The video by PogiCars reveals that the prior owner let go of the car due to relocating overseas. After advertising the car on Facebook Marketplace, they received an overwhelming 300+ messages on Facebook. They were concerned about potential fraud and hence gladly accepted $29,000 in cash for the vehicle.
Santos is procuring parts for the necessary bodywork and has planned some modifications. Wider fenders are being sourced to replace the damaged front-end components, and the BBS wheels will be swapped out. They will be replaced with a set of Rays TE37s featuring a “sporty fit.” Santos also aims to upgrade the rear bumper to the 2005 NA2 model, giving the car a more contemporary appearance.
All in all, this vehicle is a prime example of the exceptional craftsmanship of the Acura NSX. What’s more, this isn’t the only one! It marks the second 400,000-mile NSX we’ve showcased in the past two years, and it’s even in the same color!
It’s become so common for an NSX to achieve this milestone that it caused quite a bit of confusion in the office, as it was initially mistaken for the previously featured car. Now that’s a true testament to the legendary durability of the NSX!
