Based in Southern California, Mullen Automotive, a manufacturer of Commercial EVs, operates two vehicle plants in Tunica, Mississippi and Mishawaka, Indiana. Commencing EV production in Tunica in August 2023, the company is now working on a cutting-edge solid-state polymer battery pack that is expected to significantly increase the range of its EVs. Existing customers will have the option to retrofit their vehicles with the new pack once it becomes available.

In February, Mullen initiated road testing of Class 1 EV cargo vans outfitted with the integrated solid-state polymer battery pack. Subsequently, the company has identified primary suppliers for development and components, and has placed initial purchase orders.

The Mullen ONE van, featuring the solid-state polymer pack, is set for production in the latter part of 2025. The solid-state polymer battery pack is foreseen to boost the potential range of the Mullen ONE from 110 miles to over 200 miles.

A battery exchange program will be introduced by Mullen, enabling current cargo van owners who meet the existing vehicle warranty criteria to switch from their Li-ion battery packs to the solid-state polymer battery packs.

David Michery, Chairman and CEO of Mullen Automotive, expressed, “We appreciate the trust and investment our customers have in our vehicles. As we achieve new milestones, we are dedicated to sharing our technological progress with all our early adopters. This battery exchange initiative will provide customers with the chance to upgrade to our advanced solid-state pack.”
