When it debuted in 1974, the Type 930 Porsche 911 Turbo revolutionized performance standards. It integrated advanced turbo technology from the legendary 917/10 and 917/30 race cars into a production vehicle renowned for its superior performance, distinctive design, and exceptional daily usability. The 911 Turbo 50 Years anniversary model, based on the 911 Turbo S launched in 2019, pays homage to this rich legacy while interpreting it through a modern lens. The vehicle’s standard vinyl side graphics pay tribute to the historical design of the Porsche 911 RSR Turbo showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1973, which served as a precursor to the 911 Turbo. Notably, it features the exclusive Porsche Turbo color, Turbonite, which is making its inaugural appearance on a 911 and is also utilized in the rear engine cover inlays, fuel tank cap, and the Porsche crest, serving as a contrasting shade in the Turbo 50 logo.
An additional nod to history can be found in the Anthracite Grey accents on the rear wing blade, rear apron, mirror base, and air intake trims. A badge on the rear engine cover grille features an icon of a turbocharger along with the years 1974–2024. When the door opens, an LED projector casts an image of a turbocharger onto the ground next to the car. The model comes standard with 911 Turbo S Exclusive Design wheels finished in Turbonite.
Interior inspired by the 1970s
The interior of the 911 Turbo 50 Years reflects the classic Turbo spirit. As a heartfelt tribute to early Porsche 911 Turbo models, the stylish McKenzie tartan design is used on the center panels of the seat covers and the interior door panels. Additional Turbonite highlights distinguish this vehicle from the standard 911 Turbo S production models. These accents include Turbonite-colored seat belts, controls, decorative stitching, and trim strips adorned with black leather inlays, as well as the Porsche crest on the GT sports steering wheel. An illuminated Turbo 50 logo is featured on the kick plates, which have a sleek black brushed aluminum finish, and the logo is also embroidered onto the headrests of the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus. A Turbo 50 logo can also be found on the rear of the left seat. An anniversary plaque made of aluminum, displaying the Turbo 50 logo and the vehicle’s individual limited-edition number, graces the area above the glove compartment. The A-pillar, sun visors, and roof lining are upholstered in perforated Race-Tex, while a special Turbo 50 analogue clock designed by Porsche adorns the dashboard.
The optionally available 50 Years of Turbo Heritage Design Package enhances the anniversary model with a range of exclusive design and feature elements reminiscent of 1970s 911 Turbo models. The base color for this package is Aventurine Green Metallic, although the standard 911 color options and Paint to Sample program colors are also available. The Heritage Design Package also includes a high-quality decorative graphic in a white satin finish, comprising three elements: a lollipop featuring customizeable car numbers from 0 to 99, a logo celebrating 50 years of Turbo, and a Porsche logo. Customers who prefer a more understated appearance can opt to forgo some or all graphic components.
Exceptional Performance, Style, and Legacy
At its core, the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years builds on the 911 Turbo S that has been manufactured since 2019. Its 3.7-liter boxer engine with variable turbine geometry (VTG) twin-turbocharging generates 478 kW (650 PS) and 800 Newton meters of torque. With a curb weight of 1,640 kilograms, this model boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.52 kg/PS. The 911 Turbo 50 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in only 8.9 seconds. Power is delivered through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the active all-wheel-drive system Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which includes an electronically controlled rear differential lock that manages torque distribution effectively.
Exclusive Chronograph for the Timeless Sports Car
To celebrate the 911 Turbo 50 Years, Porsche Design Timepieces will offer a special chronograph for its owners. Limited to 1,974 units, the 911 Turbo 50 Years chronograph features the COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.200 movement with a flyback function. Its design mirrors the vehicle’s dashboard exactly, featuring a black dial with Turbonite accents. The bracelet is crafted from black vehicle leather with Turbonite stitching and includes a folding clasp. The transparent case showcases the winding rotor, which is styled similarly to the wheels of the 911 Turbo 50. The engraving on the titanium housing corresponds with the vehicle’s limited-edition number; a special version is also available with the Heritage Design Package.
Deliveries Expected to Begin in Autumn 2024
