A significant fire erupted at Day’s Motorpark in Gorseinon, Swansea, resulting in the destruction or damage of over 20 vehicles, including motorhomes, vans, and cars.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 29, at the dealership on Swansea Road, triggering an extensive emergency response.
It is believed that the fire started accidentally, producing thick black smoke that rose dramatically into the air. Captivating images showed a giant dinosaur model situated in front of the dealership shrouded in smoke.
Emergency services received the call at approximately 2:15 PM and promptly dispatched five fire engines along with a specialized vehicle to tackle the flames.
One individual, a 25-year-old man, sustained injuries during the incident but was treated by paramedics on-site and did not incur any serious harm.
The fire led to significant destruction, with seven motorhomes entirely consumed by flames and six others suffering severe damage. Additionally, four cars, eight vans, and a minibus were also affected.
As a safety measure, several nearby buildings were evacuated, and police coordinated with firefighters to manage traffic, resulting in the closure of part of Swansea Road.
Local residents were advised to remain indoors and keep their windows and doors shut.
Fire crews continued their operations at the site until 4:50 PM to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished and the area was deemed safe.
