Porsche has decided to call back its Taycan model due to the risk of brake fluid seepage, a situation that might lead to compromised braking capabilities.
The recall impacts specific Taycans manufactured between the 2020 edition launch year and the 2025 edition update. A total of 31,689 units in the United States are part of this action.
As detailed in the recall notification by the NHTSA on June 19, there is a likelihood of cracks forming in the front brake hoses over time, causing fluid leakage. This issue arises from increased deterioration due to specific steering and driving conditions.
Porsche mentioned in the notification that they have received multiple reports of front brake hose leakage on Taycans, including seven cases from the U.S.
While no accidents have been documented in the U.S., one incident occurred outside the country, resulting in no injuries.
Vehicle owners might observe warnings such as “brake fluid low” or “PSM failure,” as indicated in the notification.
The solution necessitates dealers to examine and substitute the front brake hoses with a fresh set having a heightened bending radius, a service provided at no cost.
