Bugatti Unveils Chiron Sport: A More Agile Hypercar

In the realm of hypercars, the Bugatti Chiron has already set the bar with its impressive top speed of 261 mph. Yet, Bugatti has introduced an upgraded variant, the Chiron Sport, aimed at enhancing its performance on the track.

Unlike the Super Sport version of the Veyron, which boasted higher power and acceleration, the Chiron Sport maintains the same power output and acceleration stats as the standard model. However, it has been designed to improve cornering abilities, making it a more agile performer.

The Chiron Sport features several enhancements, including stiffer suspension springs, a weight reduction of 40 pounds, Dynamic Torque Vectoring for improved handling, and modified steering for better cornering response. Notably, it also debuts carbon fiber windshield wipers, a first in production cars. Bugatti claims that the Sport can navigate Italy’s Nardò handling circuit a full five seconds faster than the original Chiron.

Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti and a former executive at Audi Sport and Lamborghini, remarked, “The Chiron Sport has become perceptibly more nimble, and its new agility, especially in tight corners, creates a more emotional experience for the driver on winding roads and handling circuits.”

Visually, the Chiron Sport can be identified by its distinctive new wheels and quad-exit exhaust. The color scheme includes a black carbon rear half complemented by a front half and aluminum "C"-trim available in shades such as red, Bugatti’s signature “French Racing Blue,” silver, or gunmetal.

While the base Chiron retails for $3 million, the Chiron Sport commands a price of $3.26 million, prompting potential buyers to weigh whether the enhanced handling and unique features justify the additional cost. Nonetheless, it’s likely that many affluent enthusiasts may opt for both vehicles.
