For the past few years, BMW Motorrad has embraced the slogan “Make Life a Ride.” Recently, the company has selected 60 Instagrammers with a flair for the Bavarian brand to illustrate what #everydayadventure(s) signify for them as motorcyclists.
Each of the chosen Instagrammers is tasked with creating unique content under the hashtag #everydayadventure, focusing on three key themes: the sensations felt while riding a motorcycle, significant locations that are best accessed on two wheels, and the elements that forge an unbreakable bond between rider and machine.
These finalists are encouraged to enrich their photos and captions within these themes, showcasing their hometowns and the best motorcycle-friendly destinations.
Although the competition has not received much marketing in the United States, it coincides with the launch of the new BMW G310 GS in US showrooms this autumn. BMW aims to generate excitement and connect with millennials who are increasingly drawn to adventure. As more young people in urban environments move away from car ownership, many are turning to motorcycles or scooters for their daily commutes. This shift has profoundly changed my commuting experience in Los Angeles over the past six years.
The BMW Everyday Adventure competition is set to conclude this week, with one of the 60 participants being named the winner. That person will receive a fully-funded trip to BMW Motorrad Days in Germany in 2018. Each participant will also have the opportunity to pitch a once-in-a-lifetime journey on a BMW G310 GS, with proposals being publicly submitted and decided by crowd-sourced votes. Further details about this selection process remain unclear, as a BMW representative was unavailable for comment.
