BigJohnSD and Festar Embark on Another Adventure

My Comrade, Sibling from a Different Parent, and ultimate companion Brian (Festar) from OZ arrives in Rapid City today at 1600. Since 2014, we have cruised over 100,000 miles together in the USA and Australia. This marks his first visit to the USA since 2019 due to COVID. Our kind buddy, Pterodactyl/AKBeemer, has generously provided Brian with a motorcycle for the nearly two months and at least 15,000 miles he will be here (he flies back on July 2nd).

Our “Plan” or my blueprint, as Brian does not plan, involves departing Spearfish on Saturday, May 11th, and riding to Omaha, staying overnight at my sister-in-law’s place, then journeying to Palmyra MO on Sunday before making our way to a friend’s in Lafayette, LA on Monday via the scenic routes of MO, AR, and LA. We will reach Joey’s in Lafayette by Tuesday evening, then proceed to Turk’s in Jemison, AL on Thursday before heading to Toter’s tech event Friday-Saturday somewhere close to Jasper GA (Joey is overseeing Lafayette to Toter’s).

From Toter’s, we will travel alongside our pal Josh through Kentucky and Indiana to Georgetown IL.

Our pathway from Georgetown back to Spearfish is still to be determined, but we will be in Spearfish for Memorial Day weekend.

Following Memorial Day, we will travel to Pterodactyl’s in Helena for several days of motorcycle upkeep.

Setting off from Pterodactyl’s on Wednesday 5/29, we will head West towards Fred’s in Wenatchee, arriving on Sunday, June 2nd.
Fred has activities planned for us at the lake for a few days.

On either Wednesday or Thursday, we will journey South to meet up with Tyler’s NORCAL excursion in Ukiah or Weed.

Our intention is to spend time with Tyler until Sunday and then proceed to Nevada City CA for a day or two, with hopes that Doug can take a day off and ride with us on Tuesday, June 11th. Brian’s last visit to the Laporte Quincy Road dates back to 2014.

Following Doug’s place, we will make our way to rendezvous with 5,000 of our dearest friends in Redmond, OR at the national BMW MOA Rally where we will unite with Pterodactyl (Kevin and Annie) and several members of the Black Hills BMW Riders for a couple of days.

On Sunday, June 16th, we will journey towards Spearfish, reaching by Tuesday or Wednesday to kick off the 2024 Black Hills Rendezvous.

Post BH Rendezvous, our plan is to venture Northwest towards Helena, possibly via the Beartooth Pass, if open, with fingers crossed, arriving on Monday, June 24th.

On Tuesday, June 25th, we will depart for Eureka MT, then head to Lake Country BC on Wednesday, June 26th for some days with Dave and Sylvia Dykes.

By Friday, June 28th, we will journey to Fort Benton MT, and then on Saturday to Helena to return Brian’s borrowed bike.

SWMBO will tow my trailer to Helena and transport Brian and myself back home on Sunday, June 30th.
