Each fresh Infiniti edition making its debut in 2021 and beyond will either have hybrid technology integrated or be fully electric, as confirmed by Hiroto Saikawa, the Chief Executive Officer of Nissan, the parent company of Infiniti. Emphasizing the commitment, the executive expressed, “Infiniti is destined to become the epitome of premium electrification,” in discussions with Reuters, at the Automotive News World Congress held on Tuesday.

This declaration follows the unveiling of the Q Inspiration concept car by Infiniti, which serves as a medium to promote the brand’s VC-Turbo variable compression engine. The 2019 QX50 is slated to be the pioneer offering equipped with this leading-edge powertrain, although specifics about when other Infiniti models will incorporate the VC-Turbo engine remain undisclosed.

It is not unwarranted to ponder whether this engine might serve as the cornerstone of the brand’s hybrid vehicles in 2021.

The reimagined Nissan Leaf commenced production last month, positioning the company for potential large-scale manufacturing of electric vehicles in the near future.

Other car manufacturers are setting ambitious goals to broaden their range of electric vehicle options within a comparable timeframe. General Motors committed to introducing 20 EVs into the market by 2023, while Ford raised the stakes this week by promising 40 electric vehicles by 2022. Irrespective of which manufacturer achieves its objectives first, the key focus lies in product mobility, as approximately 30 million U.S. consumers are contemplating the transition to an electric vehicle for their next automobile, highlighting that proactive steps into this market could prove beneficial for the frontrunners.
