The unveiling of Lamborghini’s rugged off-road car was originally scheduled for Nov. 30, but the Italian automaker couldn’t resist showcasing their latest creation. And here it is, the Lamborghini Sterrato, an off-road variant of the V10-powered Huracan. It lives up to the hype with its daring design.
The Lamborghini Sterrato embodies its name, as “Sterrato” translates to “dirt road” in Italian, hinting at its ideal terrain. Equipped with a raised ground clearance, all-terrain wheels, widened fenders, roof-mounted air intake, and hood-embedded LED fog lights, this model resembles a vehicle straight out of a futuristic action movie.
Under the hood sits the familiar 5.2-liter V10 engine, commonly found in the standard Huracan and even the Audi R8. Official performance figures have not been released yet, leaving enthusiasts curious about its power output and drivetrain specifics. While all-wheel drive seems probable due to its rough terrain capabilities, Lamborghini’s reputation for innovation might hold surprises.
Lamborghini envisions the Sterrato as a supercar equally adept at conquering dirt paths and asphalt tracks alike. However, its limitations become apparent as it boasts only a slight increase in ride height compared to the standard Huracan, still maintaining the characteristics of a mid-engine supercar with an elongated front section.
Rumors suggest that the Sterrato could be the final solely gasoline-powered Lamborghini model. Following reports by Autocar, the upcoming Aventador replacement may adopt plug-in hybrid technology, potentially marking the end of an era for traditional Lamborghini powertrains.
The design exudes a captivating allure, embodying the essence of an all-terrain Lamborghini with its striking and daring aesthetics. More details and specifications about the Sterrato will be disclosed during its full unveiling on November 30 at Art Basel in Miami.
