Porsche has consistently showcased exceptional color schemes. Providing remarkable paint selections is one inventive approach Porsche has utilized to maintain its designs as fresh and captivating, even though they have remained classically recognizable throughout the years. As a part of its 75-year anniversary, Porsche has teamed up with Backdrop, a Los Angeles-based paint and design firm, to transform four of its most cherished colors into paint suitable for your dwelling.
Among these hues is arguably Porsche’s most iconic shade—Irish Green. This green hue, ideal for a sports car, first appeared on the Porsche 356C in 1964 before being featured on the first-generation 911, where it rapidly garnered a strong following. Curiously, Irish Green is also the preferred color of Wolfgang Porsche—brother of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the mastermind behind the 911 design. Irish Green was the chosen color when Porsche assembled its one millionth 911 in 2017.
Riviera Blue, my personal favored Porsche hue, is another available color. Renowned for its exclusivity as one of the limited color choices for the 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera RS, it represents an ideal blue tone for a 911 model. Though it might seem vivid for wall paint, it can undoubtedly bring life to any space.
Another purchase option is Ruby Star, a lively magenta shade inspired by the Porsche 953 Paris-Dakar rally car, currently one of the brand’s most sought-after colors.
The final option is Speed Yellow, guaranteed to add vibrancy to any room. While Speed Yellow may lack the history or prestige of the other Porsche colors, it remains one of the brand’s most exceptional and intriguing choices.
Although I’m not a professional interior designer and cannot advise on the ideal room for these colors or how to decorate using them, the paint is quite pricey at $75 per gallon. Nonetheless, I am contemplating a coat of Irish Green for my home office in the near future.
