Grilling is a favorite pastime for many. However, unfavorable weather conditions may hinder outdoor grilling. Moreover, without an efficient kitchen vent in your RV, traditional grills can cause issues indoors due to smoke and flames. This is where the innovative SilKEN Portable Grill Touch Control by American manufacturer Kenyon comes in handy.

Renowned for their top-notch quality, Kenyon SilKEN electric grills are cutting-edge. This particular model is a smokeless, flameless 120-volt 1,300-watt grill equipped with a 155 square inch cooking area. It rapidly reaches a temperature of 550 degrees, making it suitable for both RV and home use. Portable and weighing a mere 24 pounds, its compact dimensions of 21 by 12 1/16 by 9 5/8 inches make it convenient for storage inside any RV.

A Unique Grill Design

Comprising four main components – silicone lid, detachable non-stick grill, heating element, and disposable aluminum drip pan – the grill is encased in a marine-grade stainless steel body with handles on both ends for portability.

Having used the SilKEN Touch Control both at home and while camping for the past month, my spouse and I can attest to its ease of use. The touch control, positioned on the upper right corner of the unit, offers eight heat settings for quick heating at the desired temperature within 5-7 minutes.

Additionally, apart from the varied heat settings, this grill comes with a handy high-temperature silicone lid that enhances efficiency and ensures consistent cooking temperatures.

Zero Smoke, Zero Flare-ups

One of the outstanding features of the Kenyon SilKEN Touch Control is its ability to allow grilling in smoke and flare-up-free environments. This is achieved by ensuring that the heating element never comes into contact with the cooking grate, while the drippings are collected in the disposable aluminum drip pan, preventing them from reaching the element.

Kenyon’s Quick Start guide suggests pouring 16 ounces of water to cover the base of the disposable drip pan to minimize smoke from hot drippings. As the water heats up, the evaporating liquid aids in retaining moisture in the food, preventing it from drying out.

My partner adores this grill for its evenly heated cooking surface, straightforward temperature control, and the fact that vegetables like onions remain intact on the grill without falling through, as they might on a conventional BBQ. She particularly appreciates the silicone lid, which remains cool to the touch and prevents burns when inspecting the food.

Cleaning the grill grate is a breeze with just a damp paper towel. We have prepared a variety of dishes such as patties, seafood, poultry, and meat cuts, all of which turned out nearly flawless.

Is it Worth the Investment?

The primary drawback of this advanced SilKEN portable electric grill is its substantial price tag: $1,648. Certainly, this may deter many road wanderers. However, for enthusiasts of cutting-edge, premium merchandise that is suitable for both domestic and travel use, the Kenyon SilKEN Portable Grill Touch Control is a worthy consideration. Furthermore, given its efficiency, adaptability, and robust construction, it is likely to be your final grill acquisition.
