Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has unveiled the Mitsubishi DST Concept, a midsize SUV prototype, at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show1.

『MITSUBISHI DST CONCEPT』

The DST Concept represents Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to enhancing mobility experiences that inspire adventure while providing excitement for all passengers. This new addition complements the existing lineup in the ASEAN region, which includes the Pajero Sport2 midsize SUV, the Xforce3 compact SUV, and the Xpander and Xpander Cross crossover MPVs. The DST Concept introduces a brand new monocoque SUV featuring three-row seating, catering to customers looking for a spacious seven-seater that ensures comfort for all.

“The Mitsubishi DST Concept showcases a fresh three-row SUV that we plan to introduce as part of our mid-term business strategy, Challenge 2025. Production will primarily focus on the ASEAN market, including the Philippines, starting in the fiscal year4 2025,” stated Takao Kato, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors. “This all-new SUV aims to follow the success of the Xpander crossover MPV, which originated in the ASEAN region and has gained worldwide appeal, as well as the highly praised Xforce compact SUV launched in fiscal 2023. We intend for it to be a global strategic vehicle, further developing it as a uniquely Mitsubishi SUV that expands mobility options for our customers.”

The Mitsubishi DST Concept showcases a sophisticated, authentic SUV design, complete with a spacious and stylish interior that prioritizes passenger comfort. It is built to handle any weather or road conditions, ensuring a safe, comfortable journey. This three-row SUV invites drivers along with their families to embark on new adventures.

Refined, authentic SUV design

The design ethos is encapsulated in “Gravitas & Dynamism.” Gravitas conveys a sense of impressive presence and stability, which is reflected in the harmonious proportions that provide ample cabin space, even for third-row passengers, combined with the solid stance typical of an SUV. Its sleek, bold front end also projects authority. The spaciousness of the cabin is enhanced by the blacked-out pillars and smoothly wrapped windows, while a rich surface detail at the rear accentuates its robust profile.

Dynamism infuses the design with a sense of energy and movement, evident in the large tires and elevated ground clearance that enhance its driving capability. The sculpted front and rear fender flares resemble the muscle definition of a well-conditioned athlete, signaling strength and superior road handling. Additional elements like side protectors and robust skid plates on the front and rear enhance the sense of durability.

Mitsubishi’s signature design can be seen throughout the exterior. The front employs the Dynamic Shield design concept, balancing powerful performance with protective features. The grille boasts a three-dimensional honeycomb structure beneath a transparent outer layer, seamlessly integrated with bumpers that provide additional protection, resulting in a modern and commanding appearance.

Both the front daytime running lights and rear tail lights utilize LED technology, creating a T-shape that highlights the SUV’s expansive stance, while distinctive horizontal accents on the C-pillar add to the robust aesthetic.

Spacious, classy interior for all passengers to ride in comfort

The interior of the DST Concept is designed to offer an open and upscale atmosphere. The instrument panel is adorned with soft, high-quality materials, and its dynamic shape flows into the door trim, fostering a sense of spaciousness. A panoramic sunroof invites natural light, enhancing the overall ambiance for a bright, relaxing cabin.

The instrument panel is equipped with a large display that features a full LCD driver interface along with a central screen, providing a modern appearance and essential driving information for a safe and confident driving experience.

Road handling to navigate through any weather or road conditions and reach the destination safely with comfort and peace of mind

With impressive ground clearance, the DST Concept is confident on rugged surfaces, and it offers five distinct driving modes tailored for various ASEAN road conditions. This includes a Wet mode for driving on flooded roads, a Tarmac mode for navigating paved winding roads, as well as Normal, Gravel, and Mud modes. Despite being a front-wheel drive vehicle, it is versatile enough to adapt to different weather and road scenarios, ensuring a comfortable and secure travel experience for families and companions.

1 Press day is October 24, and the show is open to the public from October 25 to 27.
2 In certain countries, including the Philippines, the Pajero Sport is marketed as the Montero Sport.
3 Depending on the market, the Xforce may be known as the Outlander Sport.
4 Fiscal 2025 spans from April 2025 to March 2026.
