The Jeep Cherokee XJ has won the hearts of off-road enthusiasts everywhere. Featuring a robust 4.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 193 horsepower and powerful four-wheel-drive capabilities, this rugged SUV is built to endure challenging conditions. Sadly, Jeep ceased production of the XJ in 2001, only to revive the Cherokee name in 2014 with a completely different model.
Recently, off-road enthusiast Josh McBride shared a video documenting his adventures in Sand Hollow, Utah, on Facebook. The footage shows his heavily modified Cherokee starting at the base of a steep incline and triumphantly reaching the summit. It’s clear that McBride must have an impressive crawl ratio on his vehicle to conquer such a daunting climb.
Details regarding McBride’s build remain sparse for now, but The Drive will keep readers updated as more information becomes available.
UPDATE: According to owner Josh McBride, the Cherokee XJ was custom-built by Fat Bob’s Garage in Layton, Utah. Notable features of this build include “Rock Krawler Three Link Long Arms, BDS Springs, G2 Axle and 4.56 gears, Torq-masters front and rear Aussie lockers, 15×10 Fuel Offroad wheels, and 35″ Cooper STT tires.” Additionally, the build boasts several cosmetic upgrades, which can be viewed on his Facebook page.
