Driving mid-engine supercars can be quite challenging. Most seasoned driving professionals would advise that if you’re planning to get behind the wheel of a powerful vehicle like the 616-horsepower McLaren MP4-12C, it’s crucial to use both hands. However, this guideline seemed to be overlooked during the incident captured in a recent video, which culminated in a crash causing over $100,000 in damages.

The YouTube video shared on Friday features a man who is participating in a $99 “ride and drive” experience in the MP4-12C. Despite having an instructor seated next to him—whose job is to guide inexperienced drivers and prevent reckless actions—the driver still manages to collide with the luxury supercar.

Throughout most of the footage, the driver doesn’t seem to be pushing the car hard. However, on the final lap, following his instructor’s encouragement, he accelerates, all while steering with one hand. After a straight stretch where the instructor repeatedly urges him to “floor it,” the driver suddenly finds himself trying to navigate a sharp turn. He loses control and understeers, resulting in an estimated $125,000 worth of damage to the vehicle.
