The Honda S600 serves as a nostalgic piece from Honda’s early days as an automaker. Production of their first vehicle, the T360 kei truck, began in 1963, followed closely by their second effort, the ambitious S500 sports car. This paved the way for the S600, which boasted an engine upgrade from 531cc to 606cc. Manufactured between 1964 and 1966, a total of 13,084 units of the S600—available in both roadster and fastback coupe styles—were produced before the model was discontinued in favor of the more powerful S800 with a 791cc engine. Honda’s background in creating small, high-revving engines from their motorcycle line played a crucial role in the development of these early sports cars, a legacy later honored with the S2000.

For those interested in owning an early Honda sports car (which should be exciting given their weight of under 1600 pounds), there’s good news. An S600 is currently available for auction on Bring A Trailer. With a week left to bid and a current high offer of $2,500, there’s ample opportunity for the price to rise well beyond what casual shoppers might be willing to pay.

This particular S600 was originally sold in Germany before being brought to Vermont. After experiencing engine failure over a decade ago, the vehicle was sold and placed in storage. Between 2011 and 2015, it underwent extensive restoration, incorporating future-proofing measures such as powder coating for the chassis and wheels to ward off corrosion. Notably, a custom dual-exit exhaust sourced from Australia has been added, marking the only component that is neither factory-original nor a period-correct reproduction.

If you’re looking for a vintage roadster but don’t fancy a British Leyland model, this could be a great alternative.
