Kia has issued a recall for more than 600 units of its leading EV9 SUV due to a potential issue with its semi-autonomous parking feature, which may require more braking effort than expected.

The company’s recall notice indicates, “A software malfunction may cause the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system to function improperly.”

The Remote Smart Parking Assist feature comes standard on the high-end EV9 GT-Line model.

  • A total of 602 vehicles are impacted, manufactured between 2023 and 2024

Owners of the affected vehicles are urged by Kia to promptly make an appointment with an authorized dealer to get the complimentary IEB software update performed.
