The America PAC, which is backed by Elon Musk, has invested heavily in advertising on the social media platform X, which Musk owns, to support Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. According to X’s political advertisement disclosure data, from July 8 to October 1, the PAC launched 59 ads at a cost exceeding $166,000, generating more than 32 million impressions as reported by X’s metrics. The ads specifically focused on key swing states, including Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, and Wisconsin.

Musk publicly endorsed Trump shortly after an assassination attempt against the former president in July during an event in Butler, Pennsylvania. Since then, he has expressed his full support for Trump and joined him at another rally in Butler earlier this month, stating, “This election is the most important election of our lifetime. This is no ordinary election.” These efforts are part of Musk’s and the America PAC’s strategy to mobilize voters for Trump in pivotal states.

The America PAC has been instrumental in rallying voters for Trump’s campaign, having developed an app designed to assist canvassers in reaching potential voters. However, there are questions about the effectiveness of this strategy, as reports suggest some canvassers may be falsifying voter contacts. Additionally, the PAC has offered $47 to swing state voters willing to sign a petition in support of the First and Second Amendments. Musk has also indicated plans to distribute $1 million per day to voters who sign this petition, a move that election law expert Rick Hasen has described as “clearly illegal.”

Recent filings with the Federal Election Commission revealed that Musk has contributed $75 million to the PAC since July, a significant amount compared to other Silicon Valley donors backing Trump. Musk has also made donations to the Building America’s Future PAC, which has created ads targeting Black and Muslim voters against Vice President Kamala Harris, particularly in swing states.

Musk has leveraged his ownership of X to further promote Trump. In August, he conducted an interview with Trump on X Spaces and has shared various conspiracy theories from the Trump campaign, including allegations about the Democratic Party enabling undocumented immigrants to vote to secure electoral victories.

One advertisement, which ran from September 27 to October 1, warned that “Georgia is filling up with illegal immigrants,” claiming that Kamala Harris released more undocumented individuals than the population of Atlanta. The ad urged viewers to “End Kamala’s Border Chaos” and encouraged them to request mail-in ballots for Trump. It directed viewers to votesafe.org, a website funded by America PAC, where voters can check their registration status and request ballots.

All ads from the PAC are connected to the @theamericapac account on X, which links to the PAC’s official site. Before attending Trump’s rally in October, Musk had taken over the @america handle for the America PAC.

Moreover, the America PAC has allocated substantial resources to advertising on Meta’s platforms, including over 250 ads posted in October alone. A representative from X has not yet responded to requests for comment..
