Have you ever dreamed of owning Toyota’s supercar that few saw coming, the Lexus LFA? Have you noticed the skyrocketing prices for pre-owned models? You might have a rare opportunity to purchase a brand new one directly from a dealer.

Even though production wrapped up in 2012, there are still 12 unused Lexus LFA models in the U.S. listed as dealer inventory. Autoblog conducted an investigation after observing that a new LFA was sold in July, uncovering the current status of these vehicles. Initially, when the LFA first launched, Lexus only accepted purchase orders to prevent price gouging. However, as demand dwindled in 2010, the company found itself with leftover LFAs and preferred to distribute them to dealerships rather than let them gather dust in the factory. They subsequently opened up ordering to existing LFA owners, Lexus executives, and dealers.

Though dealer-ordered Lexus LFAs were not initially planned, they do exist, and a dozen brand new, never-owned LFA models remain available. It is presumed that dealers are keeping these cars under wraps, possibly to use them as display pieces or to add to their personal collections.

We remain hopeful and believe that anyone with around half a million dollars to spare could stroll into a Lexus dealership and drive away with a brand new LFA. So, if you’re feeling lucky, now is the time to seek out one of these extraordinary vehicles before they disappear for good.
