Richard Myrick holds a degree in architecture from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. He started his career in real estate development and architectural planning. In September 2010, Richard launched Mobile Cuisine Magazine to address the lack of information available for those wanting to start a mobile hotdog cart in Chicago. He recognized a need for a central resource on mobile street food and thus the idea for MCM emerged.
