Easter eggs, whether large or small, serve as a playful method for car designers and engineers to convey hidden messages and humor to their customers, and Tesla is notably enthusiastic about this practice. On Friday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to hint at the development of a launchpad dedicated to these hidden features in the company’s electric vehicles.
Currently, Tesla vehicles include various easter eggs such as light shows during the holiday season, a concealed rainbow illumination for the charging port, a secret rainbow road display that appears when Autopilot is active, and even a Spaceballs tribute hidden within its infotainment system, among others. Most recently, Musk suggested the existence of a new doodle screen that can be accessed by Tesla owners, provided they know where to look.
It remains uncertain whether this upcoming easter egg launchpad will enable users to activate every software easter egg available in the cars.
While the launchpad concept is intriguing, it raises the question: does it detract from the thrill of discovering these easter eggs? After all, a significant part of the enjoyment comes from the adventure of uncovering the hidden features.
